Footwear Trends – Spring/Summer 2013

What are we wearing this spring and summer when it comes to the footwear? In general, we can see that the shoes have been becoming more refined. The visual effect of any pair of shoes is now more elegant and tailored. But don’t think only about stilettos when you hear “elegant”. Everything is more refined, even tan boots, booties, shooties, sneakers and oxfords. Colors are pastel, mid-tones and white, but, floral and animal prints are still stylish and trendy.

And don’t think that everything has to look “natural”, because Sci-Fi shoes that create space-age vibe being shinier than ever before are a must-have this season. If you are not completely in love with that Sci-Fi vamp look, opt for metal-toe caps in gold, silver or pewter on almost any footwear style: booties, oxfords, slipper flats, stiletto-pumps.

Pointy toes are back in the game and now we are talking about all types of shoes: shooties, booties, closed-toe sandals, heels, oxfords, ballet flats etc. Booties and shooties? One big YES for them, because it seems that these styles are season-less, so you can wear them year around. For this season, opt for closed heels and peep toes when it comes to both shooties and booties and wear them with almost any trendy clothes this spring and summer. Ankle straps, both narrow and broad on flats, pointy-toe stiletto-pumps, shooties and sandals are total must-have this season.

If you are not fan of hectically-high platforms, you should look forward to the fashion trends changing and making room for wedge sandals without platform, lower platforms and low heels. Flat oxfords are available in many versions, because the trend is becoming more popular and stronger.
