The same thing applies to miniskirts, it has stuck around from long time and you can still see them often in clubs at night. We can still see legwarmers on chilly nights, even today some people like to wear parachute pants.

Boldness of patterns from 1980s was still seen in 1990s, but most of the clothing was influenced by the film industry, music industry and Hollywood at that time. Popular music genre during 1990s was Grunge, with the creation of bands like Alice in Chains, Soundergarden, Nirvana the clothing style also changed, reversed to more delicate colors.

With customers shopping through retail and whole websites on internet these days, fashion world has become much broader and lot of styles from so many years have created their way back and are famous. You can still see shoulder pads in streets, cut off jeans are also in fashion in some places, so the fashion was hidden for a while may be, and it never disappeared completely.
