When you are out in the sun on the beach smeared in sunscreen, do you think about your jewelry pieces? How do you take care of luxurious items that make you look gorgeous and elegant? Here are some tips to help you maintain your jewelry when it’s hot and sunny.
When packing your bags, it’s important not to bring too many jewelry pieces. First of all, it’s not like you move to another home, you will spend a few weeks unwinding your mind, relaxing and enjoying your time. Think about what you really need. It would be wise to bring cheaper pieces on your vacation, in case it gets stolen, forgotten or damaged. Also, avoid putting your jewelry in a suitcase and bring it in your hand bag instead. In most cases, jewelry lost from the suitcase is not covered by insurance policy. When packing your precious jewelry, make sure the items don’t scratch each other and pack them in separate bags.
When on the beach, you should avoid wearing any jewelry at all. First, if sunscreen gets in it, your jewelry piece will look dirty. If, however, this happens, make sure you wash it throughly with drinking water and wipe it with an impregnated cloth afterwards. By no means you should bring your heaviest diamond jewelry on a sandy beach. First of all, it’s quite easy to get lost and secondly, it’s impossible to keep the sand away from the mountings. Should you go swimming wearing jewerly? It’s not recommended, both chlorine and saltwater can discolor your jewerly, especially if it’s plated. Too much sun should be avoided for plated jewelry would darken and stones would fade. When you return home, make sure to get your jewerly profesionally cleansed. This will make your precious necklaces, earrings and bracelets sparkle again.
If you decide not to take your jewelry with you, it’s recommended to find a good place to keep it. Beautiful jewelry boxes are the first places a thief would look, so avoid them. It’s better to use something like household food containers, a hidden areas in furniture pieces etc. It’s good to think outside the box in order to make it more difficult to find!
Be wise and careful and you’ll absolutely enjoy each moment of your summer vacation!
